Dear Son and Daughter
I’ll bet that you did not know that April 10th is Sibling Day? For some people out there this may be a hard date celebrate because their siblings are a pain in the butt, however I hope that the majority of folks viewing this have matured past the painful sibling stage and entered into the friendship stage. As they say you can choose your friends, but not your family! I know this may not apply to everyone, but siblings can be a reason for why life is great!
Sadly there are plenty people out there with strained sibling relationships. I am fortunate enough to have a good relationship with mine. More important, my kids have reached an age where they’ve gone past the dysfunctional marriage syndrome; they can’t stand to be together, but they also can’t stand to be apart. I take solace in knowing that they will have each other as family because one day my wife and I will be gone (maybe not dead, we’ll just move and not tell the kids). I imagine once we are gone that my kids will get together and mock my wife and I, but that’s OK because it’s no different than what they do now.
So if you like your siblings, call them today and say, “happy sibling day” and tell them that you appreciate them; even though everyone knows that you were your parents’ favorite and your sibling was, and remains, a pain in the butt!
Dad (your grandparent’s favorite kid and uncle Frank and Auntie Paula know it!)
P.S. – you’re both great kids, please appreciate and support one another in life.
