Dear Daughter
I know that you can be a bit of a perfectionist at times, but as our old and wise philosopher friend Jake likes to say , “Good Enough!” And Life is Great quite often with the ‘good enough’ concept, seeking perfection often just makes life unbearable. However, his other saying, “I almost did it!” That one is a little more questionable.
Imperfection is perfectly acceptable, life typically does not offer us the time or talent to make something perfect and frankly there is nothing perfect in life anyway; except for maybe your father. When you’ve done something “good enough,” move on to the next big item on your list of things to do. This does not mean that you should be sloppy in all things, there are things that must be done correctly in life, but they will never be perfect and that is alright. We are mortal, anything we do is fleeting, it will not last, seeking perfection is futile. However, this does not contradict our efforts towards self improvement, it just means that we are likely to never achieve our ideal selves, but let’s hope we get to “Good Enough!”
